Here you see it and there you don't - benefits of Museum Glass

At Framewoods, we offer several options for your framing glass our favorite is Museum Glass by Tru Vue. The main reason we love it is because, it allows you to have a more intimate relationship with your framed piece as it appears that there is nothing between you and your beloved piece.

Gary, our "Humble Shop Keeper" shared with me his discovery of museum glass while he was visiting the High Museum in Atlanta, GA. At the time, Van Gogh's “Starry Night” was the main attraction, as you can imagine, the line was long. He was expecting to view the piece through a complex Plexiglas high security area. As he reached the display he was shocked that it appeared there wasn't a thing protecting the masterpiece. Well, if you know our Humble, you know what he did next. He reached his hand up and tapped the center of the painting! Low and behold, it had glass glazing over the artwork to protect it and it wasn't visible until you touched it. Amazed, as soon as he got home he started making phone calls to his suppliers. He found it easily with Tru Vue and we have offered it as a glass option ever since.

Not only does is virtually eliminate glass glare and seem invisible, it protects the image from fading with 99% UV protection. Pictured is our glass options display that we keep on our design table. All I did to this photo was reduced it for the web, and yes there is glass on the right hand side. If you don't believe me, come on in and tap it with your finger too. You'll fall in love with it too.

One small warning comes with the Museum Glass, once you use it for a piece, you won't be satisfied with any other glass option.

Below is a bit of technical information for our techie friends.
